This design was a collaborative effort between myself and one other student. The brief challenged us to create a community-focused project with sustainability at its core while repurposing an existing building on a reclaimed toxic site. Our program combines a surplus food community market with a school lunch program and factory, addressing both food waste and supporting vulnerable populations. Architecturally, our building is designed for disassembly and future adaptability, ensuring minimal waste and a positive legacy. By transforming a toxic site into a thriving, sustainable community hub, we set a precedent for future developments, demonstrating that sustainable design can address current challenges and pave the way for a better future.
