This project involves redeveloping Quarantine Island, located in the center of Dunedin Harbour, the largest island in the harbor, and accessible only by boat. The redevelopment respects the island's layered history while introducing a contemporary design that reflects current values. The proposal integrates Quarantine Island's core values of sustainability, ecological restoration, and heritage. The design includes a day visitor cabin with an accessible composting toilet system. My masterplan is divided into three phases, to be implemented based on available funding and community priorities, ensuring a thoughtful and phased approach to the island's development.
